Charlene V. Martoni-McElrath
Charlene’s areas of expertise include library and information services, marketing and outreach, journalism, instructional design, higher education, and media management. In her work, Charlene empowers underrepresented communities through access to information and educational experiences. She has been working in libraries for ten years, and she has volunteered in libraries her entire life.
Charlene is the Student Workforce Manager at the University at Albany Libraries. Previously, Charlene was the Social Media Manager and Internship Director for the Sojourner Truth Library at the State University of New York at New Paltz, where she was also the Evening and Weekend Front Desk Supervisor. Holding a BA in journalism and another BA in adolescence education, Charlene recently gained her MSIS from the University at Albany. She enjoys reading in a variety of genres and researching in a variety of disciplines.
A two-time survivor of ovarian cancer, Charlene celebrates by fundraising and participating annually in the T.E.A.L. Walk. She is also a dedicated Skimm’bassador, and she regularly contributes to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in her communities.
